Brand History
The ERF Story
ERF was founded in 1933 in Sandbach, Cheshire, by Edwin Richard Foden, who left the family firm Foden to build diesel-powered lorries when it was still committed to steam. ERF became one of Britain's best-known independent truck makers, supplying haulage fleets for decades. It was acquired by Western Star in 1996 and then by Germany's MAN in 2000.
