Brand History

The Maybach Story

Maybach was founded in 1909 by engine pioneer Wilhelm Maybach and his son Karl, initially building engines for Zeppelin airships before turning to ultra-luxury automobiles in the 1920s, culminating in the vast Maybach Zeppelin. Car production ended around the Second World War, and Daimler revived the name in 2002 as a standalone ultra-luxury brand with the 57 and 62 limousines. That venture ended in 2012, but the name returned in 2015 as Mercedes-Maybach.
