Origins
The Lobini H1 of 2005 was Brazil's rare attempt at a domestic sports car: a compact mid-engined coupé developed in São Paulo with Audi's 1.8T four behind the seats, tubular chassis under composite bodywork, and performance tuned for the country's enthusiast circuit rather than autobahn statistics. Hand-built in small numbers at supercar-adjacent local prices — import duties made foreign rivals costlier still — it found a niche among Brazilian collectors wanting national engineering with German reliability. Production remained boutique through ownership changes before fading in the 2010s. The H1 endures as an emblem of Brazil's periodic sports-car ambitions: proof the appetite and competence existed, awaiting only an economics that never quite arrived.
