01

Origins

Pagani asked its customers what they wanted next and, by the company's account, got an unexpected answer: less. Fewer screens, fewer wings, fewer electronics, and a gearbox they operated themselves. The Utopia, revealed in 2022, is built to that brief. A seven-speed Xtrac transmission is available as a true manual, at a point when essentially no other manufacturer at this level offered one, with an automated version for those who prefer it.

Design and engineering

The styling is the calmest Pagani has produced. Where its rivals had gone to slots, vents and enormous rear wings, the Utopia has smooth flanks, round lamps and no fixed aerodynamic furniture, with the work done by underbody shaping and a deployable spoiler. The Mercedes-AMG twin-turbo V12 continues, revised, along with the carbon tub and the machined-metal cabin fittings that have defined the marque since 1999.

In production

Production is limited and was spoken for before the car was shown publicly. Its interest lies in the direction it takes: the first serious hypercar of the electrified era to argue that the driver should be doing more of the work, not less.
