Origins

W Motors, founded in Beirut and settled in Dubai, launched the Lykan HyperSport in 2013 as the Arab world's first hypercar: a RUF-engineered twin-turbo flat-six of 780 horsepower behind the cabin, styled with sci-fi menace and marketed with jewellery — headlamps set with diamonds, gold stitching, a 3.4-million-dollar price making it then among the costliest cars on earth. Seven units were planned; fame arrived exponentially when Furious 7 flew one between Abu Dhabi towers. Dubai's police added another to their supercar fleet. The Lykan's engineering was solid and its theatre absolute — precisely calibrated for its market and moment, announcing that hypercar geography now included the Gulf, on the Gulf's own terms.
