Origins
The Yezdi Roadking of 1978 was Mysore's own motorcycle: Ideal Jawa's evolution of the licensed Czech twins into an Indian institution — a 250cc two-stroke of legendary simplicity, beloved of hill-country riders, rallyists and every mechanic who ever fixed one with wire and patience. 'Forever bikes, forever value' ran the slogan, and the Roadking's durability made it advertising. Production ended in the mid-1990s as four-strokes and emissions rules closed the two-stroke age; the cult never dispersed, and the revived Yezdi brand of 2022 trades directly on the Roadking's memory. Few machines earned their nostalgia so honestly, one kickstart at a time. The revival sells nostalgia; the originals still sell kickstart lessons. Monsoon hill roads were its proving ground and its marketing, one wet season at a time.
