The Berkeley Story
Berkeley Cars was formed in 1956 in Biggleswade, England, as a collaboration between caravan maker Charles Panter and designer Laurence 'Lawrie' Bond. The company built tiny fibreglass-bodied sports cars powered by motorcycle engines, including the SE328 and the three-wheeled T60, which were praised for their handling despite very modest power. The venture collapsed in 1960 when the caravan business that funded it ran into financial trouble.
