Brand History
The Borgward Story
Carl F. W. Borgward built his Bremen-based automotive group from the 1920s into one of postwar West Germany's largest carmakers, with the Borgward, Lloyd and Goliath brands. The elegant Borgward Isabella of 1954 became the company's defining product and a symbol of the German economic miracle. The group collapsed into a controversial liquidation in 1961 despite substantial assets.
