Brand History
The Cupra Story
Cupra was launched in 2018 when SEAT spun off its performance sub-brand, whose name derives from 'Cup Racing', into a standalone marque. Aimed at a sportier, more premium market than SEAT, it found rapid success with the Formentor crossover, its first bespoke model. Cupra has since become the growth engine of SEAT S.A. within the Volkswagen Group, expanding into electric vehicles with the Born and Tavascan.
