Brand History

The DMC Story

The DeLorean Motor Company was founded in 1975 by John Z. DeLorean, a former General Motors executive. Its only product, the DMC-12, was built in a purpose-erected factory near Belfast, Northern Ireland, from 1981, featuring an unpainted stainless-steel body and gullwing doors. The company collapsed into bankruptcy in 1982 amid financial troubles and DeLorean's high-profile (and ultimately acquitted) drug-trafficking arrest, but the car achieved immortality as the time machine in the Back to the Future films.
