Brand History

The Eicher Story

Eicher traces its Indian roots to 1948, when the Goodearth Company was established to import and distribute tractors, later partnering with Germany's Eicher tractor firm to begin local manufacturing. Over the decades the group expanded into commercial vehicles and motorcycles, and Eicher Motors became best known as the parent of Royal Enfield, the world's oldest motorcycle brand in continuous production. In 2008 Eicher folded its truck and bus business into VE Commercial Vehicles, a joint venture with Sweden's Volvo Group.
