Brand History
The Great Wall Story
Great Wall Motor was established in 1984 in Baoding, Hebei province, and grew under the leadership of Wei Jianjun, who took charge of the struggling collective enterprise in 1990. The company built its reputation on pickup trucks, becoming China's best-selling pickup maker, before expanding aggressively into SUVs. It later split its products into distinct brands, including Haval, WEY, Ora, Tank and GWM Pickup, and became one of China's largest privately owned automakers.
