Brand History

The Gumpert Story

Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur was founded in 2004 in Altenburg, Germany, by Roland Gumpert, a former director of Audi Sport who had overseen Audi's rally programme. The company built the Apollo, an extreme mid-engined supercar with an Audi-derived twin-turbo V8 that was renowned for its track performance and downforce-focused design. Gumpert entered insolvency in 2013, and its assets were later acquired by investors who relaunched the Apollo under the separate Apollo Automobil name.
