Brand History

The Hero MotoCorp Story

Hero MotoCorp began in 1984 as Hero Honda, a joint venture between India's Hero Group, led by Brijmohan Lall Munjal, and Honda of Japan. The partnership became the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer by volume, powered by frugal commuter bikes such as the Splendor. After Hero and Honda parted ways in 2010–2011, the Indian company was renamed Hero MotoCorp and continued independently, developing its own engineering capability.

Current Lineup

Hero MotoCorp is the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer by volume, selling motorcycles and scooters across India and emerging markets and expanding into electric scooters through its Vida brand.

Sales

Approximately 5.4 million two-wheelers worldwide (fiscal year 2023).
