Brand History
The Kenworth Story
Kenworth was founded in Seattle in 1923, its name combining those of stockholders Harry Kent and Edgar Worthington. It became one of America's premier heavy-truck builders, credited with early adoption of diesel engines in trucks, and was acquired by Pacific Car and Foundry (later PACCAR) in 1945. Models such as the long-nosed W900 became icons of American trucking.
