Brand History

The Lordstown Story

Lordstown Motors was founded in 2018 by Steve Burns and took its name from the former General Motors assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio, which it acquired to build electric pickup trucks. Its Endurance pickup, notable for in-wheel hub motors, reached only very limited production, and the company sold its plant to Foxconn in 2022 amid mounting financial trouble.
