Brand History

The Marmon Story

Marmon was an American luxury car maker from Indianapolis whose automobile production began in 1902 within the Nordyke & Marmon machinery firm. A Marmon Wasp driven by Ray Harroun won the first Indianapolis 500 in 1911, and the V16-powered Marmon Sixteen of 1931 ranks among the great American classics. Car production ended in 1933 during the Depression, though the Marmon name later continued on trucks into the 1990s.
