Brand History
The Maruti Suzuki Story
Maruti was established in 1981 as Maruti Udyog, a partnership between the Indian government and Japan's Suzuki, to produce an affordable 'people's car' for India. The Maruti 800, launched in 1983, transformed Indian motoring, and the company has dominated the Indian market for decades with small, economical cars such as the Alto, Swift, and WagonR.
