Brand History
The Packard Story
Packard was founded in 1899 by James Ward Packard in Warren, Ohio, and moved to Detroit, where it became one of America's most prestigious luxury marques under the slogan 'Ask the Man Who Owns One'. Its straight-eight and V12 models of the 1920s and 1930s rivalled the world's finest cars, and the company built aircraft and marine engines, including Merlin engines during World War II. A 1954 merger with Studebaker failed to arrest its postwar decline.

Current Lineup
The last Detroit-built Packards were made in 1956, and the name disappeared in 1958 after two years on rebadged Studebakers.
