Brand History
The Riley Story
Riley traces its roots to a Coventry cycle business founded in 1890, with the company moving into automobile production in the early twentieth century. It earned a strong sporting reputation between the wars with cars such as the Riley Nine and Brooklands, noted for advanced high-camshaft engines. Financial trouble led to its purchase by the Nuffield Organization in 1938, after which Riley gradually became a badge-engineered marque within BMC.

Current Lineup
British Leyland retired the Riley name in 1969, and the marque has remained dormant since, with rights eventually passing to BMW.
