Brand History
The Shelby Story
Shelby American was founded in 1962 by retired racing driver Carroll Shelby, who created the AC Cobra by fitting Ford V8 power into a British roadster. The company's Daytona Coupe won the 1965 FIA GT championship, and its GT350 and GT500 Mustangs became American performance icons; Shelby also managed Ford's GT40 program that beat Ferrari at Le Mans. The Shelby name has been attached to high-performance Fords across six decades.
