Brand History
The Triumph Story
The Triumph Motor Company grew from a Coventry bicycle and motorcycle business founded by Siegfried Bettmann in the 1880s, with car production beginning in 1923. After the car and motorcycle operations separated, Triumph cars became famous for affordable British sports cars such as the TR series, Spitfire, and GT6, along with saloons like the Herald and Dolomite. Absorbed into British Leyland in the 1960s, the brand declined, and the last Triumph car, the Honda-based Acclaim, ended production in 1984.
