Brand History

The TVR Story

TVR was founded by Trevor Wilkinson in Blackpool, England, in the late 1940s, its name drawn from the letters of his first name. The company became famous for lightweight, fiberglass-bodied sports cars with outsized performance and dramatic styling, particularly under Peter Wheeler's ownership in the 1980s and 1990s, when models like the Griffith, Chimaera, Cerbera, and Tuscan earned a cult following for their raw, driver-focused character. Production ended in the mid-2000s after ownership passed to Russian businessman Nikolai Smolenski.

Current Lineup

TVR was revived under new ownership with a Gordon Murray-engineered, Cosworth V8-powered Griffith announced in 2017, but the car has yet to enter series production.
