Brand History
The Zastava Story
Zastava Automobili was a Yugoslav (later Serbian) automaker in Kragujevac that began car production in 1953 within the Crvena Zastava arms works, building Fiats under license. Its best-known products were the Fiat 600-based Zastava 750 ("Fica") and the Yugo hatchback, which was exported to the United States in the 1980s as one of the cheapest cars on the market. The factory was damaged during the 1999 NATO bombing and the company declined through the 2000s.
