The Aiways Story
Aiways was founded in Shanghai in 2017 as an electric vehicle startup and launched the U5 crossover, notable as one of the first Chinese EVs exported to Europe in meaningful numbers. Despite early export ambition, the company ran into severe financial difficulties in the early 2020s and largely halted operations in its home market.
