Origins

The U6 of 2021 added style to Aiways' pragmatism: a swoopy electric coupé-crossover on the U5's platform, brighter in design language and aimed at the same European-first strategy with sharper appeal. Deliveries reached export markets as the company's finances tightened; the domestic market never materialised meaningfully, and by mid-decade operations had largely stalled amid restructuring attempts. The U6 thus closed Aiways' active product story — a competent second act from a startup whose strategic originality (export-first, modesty-forward) deserved more runway than China's brutal capital cycle allowed. Its survivors circulate in Europe, orphaned ambassadors of the sector's most understated pioneer. Understatement, the company's virtue, proved no defence against arithmetic. Its European owners keep the forums active — a small, loyal archive of what the startup got right.
