The Canoo Story
Canoo was founded in 2017 in Los Angeles, originally as Evelozcity, by former Faraday Future and BMW executives including Stefan Krause and Ulrich Kranz. The startup developed a skateboard-style EV platform and a distinctive pod-shaped Lifestyle Vehicle, going public via SPAC merger in 2020 and winning small fleet deals including vehicles for NASA astronaut transport. Persistent cash shortages undermined its production plans in Oklahoma and Texas.
