Canoo's Lifestyle Vehicle reached its first customers in 2023: a friendly loaf of maximum interior on minimum footprint, riding a true skateboard platform with steer-by-wire — the Californian startup's showcase for architecture it hoped to sell across variants from van to pickup. Its most famous delivery was ceremonial: the crew transport vehicles that carried Artemis astronauts to the pad, NASA's endorsement of the design's American-built novelty. Retail volume never followed; capital burned through SPAC proceeds, factories changed states, and bankruptcy arrived in early 2025. The LV survives as the EV boom's most charming casualty — a genuinely fresh package, beloved by design critics, that needed manufacturing scale money could no longer buy.
