Brand History
The Daewoo Story
Daewoo Motor took shape in 1982 when the Daewoo Group took control of Saehan Motor, a company with roots in GM's Korean operations. In the 1990s it expanded aggressively at home and abroad with models such as the Lanos, Nubira, and Leganza, and acquired plants across Eastern Europe and Asia. The parent group's collapse in the Asian financial crisis brought bankruptcy, and General Motors acquired the core car operations in 2002, forming GM Daewoo.
