Brand History

The Foden Story

Foden's origins date to 1856 in Sandbach, Cheshire, where Edwin Foden built agricultural machinery before the firm became a leading maker of steam wagons and, later, diesel trucks. A family split over steam versus diesel led Edwin Richard Foden to leave and found rival ERF in 1933. Foden was acquired by the American truck group Paccar in 1980.
