Brand History

The Lambretta Story

Lambretta scooters were launched in 1947 by Ferdinando Innocenti's Milan engineering firm, named after the Lambrate district where the factory stood. Alongside Vespa, Lambretta defined the postwar Italian scooter boom and became a cultural icon, closely associated with the British Mod movement. Italian production ended in 1972 when the Indian government bought the tooling, and manufacture continued in India for years afterward.
