Brand History

The Lancia Story

Lancia was founded in Turin in 1906 by Fiat racing driver Vincenzo Lancia and became a byword for engineering innovation, introducing the load-bearing monocoque body with the 1922 Lambda and the first series-production V6 in the 1950 Aurelia. It later became the most successful marque in World Rally Championship history with cars such as the Stratos, 037 and Delta Integrale. Financial trouble led to a Fiat takeover in 1969, and from the 2010s the brand contracted to a single model, the Ypsilon, sold only in Italy.

  1. 1911–2000s

Lancia's classic badge, created in 1911 with the involvement of Count Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia, combined a shield with a four-spoke steering wheel, a thrust-lever and a flag bearing the Lancia name, and was refined many times over the decades while keeping the blue shield theme.

  2. 2007–2022

A modernized chrome-ringed circular badge retained the blue shield, steering wheel and flag motifs in simplified, glossier form.

  3. 2023–present

As part of the Stellantis-era relaunch, Lancia introduced a flat, minimalist reinterpretation of the shield and steering-wheel emblem alongside a new corporate design language.
