Brand History
The Leyland Story
Leyland began in 1896 as the Lancashire Steam Motor Company in the town of Leyland, becoming one of Britain's most important makers of trucks and buses. Leyland Motors absorbed rivals such as AEC and Standard-Triumph, and in 1968 merged with British Motor Holdings to form the ill-fated British Leyland conglomerate, whose nationalization and decline defined the crisis of the UK car industry in the 1970s.

Current Lineup
The truck business survives as Leyland Trucks, a PACCAR subsidiary building DAF-badged trucks in Leyland, while the Leyland name also continues in India through Ashok Leyland.
