Brand History
The Lifan Story
Lifan was founded in Chongqing in 1992 by Yin Mingshan, initially repairing and then manufacturing motorcycles, and became one of China's biggest motorcycle producers before adding passenger cars in the mid-2000s. Its budget cars found buyers in emerging markets, notably Russia, but the car business faltered and the company went through bankruptcy restructuring in 2020, coming under the control of Geely.
