Brand History
The Lucid Story
Lucid was founded in 2007 in California as Atieva, initially developing electric vehicle batteries and powertrains, and rebranded as Lucid Motors in 2016 when it turned to building complete cars. Its first model, the Lucid Air luxury sedan, entered production in 2021 and drew attention for class-leading range and efficiency. The company is majority-owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and builds its cars in Casa Grande, Arizona.
