The Merkur Story
Merkur was a short-lived brand created by Ford in 1985 to sell its sporty European models in North America through Lincoln-Mercury dealers. Its two models, the XR4Ti (a version of the European Ford Sierra) and the Scorpio, struggled with unfavorable exchange rates, inconsistent marketing, and looming US safety regulations.
