Brand History
The MG Story
MG originated with Morris Garages in Oxford, where Cecil Kimber began building sporting versions of Morris cars in the early 1920s, with the octagon badge adopted in 1924. Cars like the Midget, MGA, and MGB made MG one of the world's most popular sports car marques, particularly in the United States. The brand passed through British Leyland and MG Rover, whose 2005 collapse led to Chinese ownership, first under Nanjing Automobile and then SAIC Motor.
