Brand History

The Morris Story

Morris was founded in 1912 by William Morris, later Lord Nuffield, who built the 'Bullnose' Morris Oxford in Cowley and grew the company into Britain's largest interwar carmaker through mass production. The Alec Issigonis-designed Morris Minor of 1948 became the first British car to sell over a million units, and the Mini debuted in 1959 partly as the Morris Mini-Minor. Morris merged with Austin to form BMC in 1952 and the badge faded under British Leyland.

Current Lineup

The Morris name was retired in 1984; its trademark rights later passed into Chinese ownership alongside other British Leyland-era brands.
