Origins
Alec Issigonis designed the Minor in secret during the war under the project name Mosquito, and most of what makes it good was decided then: rack and pinion steering, torsion bar independent front suspension, a monocoque body, and fourteen-inch wheels at a time when small cars rode on much larger ones. It handled better than cars costing several times as much, which is a large part of why it is still being driven.
