Brand History
The Renault Story
Louis Renault built his first voiturette in 1898 and, with his brothers, founded the company in 1899. Renault pioneered the direct-drive transmission, dominated early Grands Prix, was nationalised after WWII, and democratised the hatchback with the 4 and 5. Its 1999 alliance with Nissan created one of the world's largest auto groups.
