Brand History
The Scania Story
Scania's history begins with Vabis, founded in 1891 in Södertälje, Sweden, which merged in 1911 with Malmö-based Scania to form Scania-Vabis. The company became one of the world's premier heavy truck and bus manufacturers, renowned for its modular product system and durable V8 diesel engines introduced in 1969. After a long period under Saab-Scania and independent ownership, it was absorbed into Volkswagen's commercial vehicle group.
