The M9 of 2023 completed AITO's improbable climb: a full-size luxury SUV thick with Huawei's best — projection headlights, triple-screen HarmonyOS cabin, the ADS driving stack — in range-extended and electric forms, priced against the German establishment and outselling it: within a year the M9 dominated China's premium-SUV sales above half a million yuan, a symbolic throne German badges had held since the market opened. Its buyers were the statement: executives choosing Chinese technology density over imported heritage. For Huawei's automotive strategy the M9 was proof at the top — the halo that dragged the whole AITO range upmarket, and the clearest single demonstration that China's luxury market had changed owners. The Germans had held that summit since the market opened; losing it to a phone store was the era in one sentence.
