Origins

Ares Design — Dany Bahar's Modena atelier for automotive haute couture — produced its defining work in 2019: Project1, later called Panther ProgettoUno, a complete rebody of Lamborghini's Huracán as a modern De Tomaso Pantera homage, pop-up headlamps triumphantly included. The V10 mechanicals remained Sant'Agata's; the carbon coachwork, hand assembly and seven-figure invoice were pure Modenese revival — twenty-first-century coachbuilding exactly as the great carrozzerie once practised it, donor chassis and all. Small numbers reached collectors nostalgic for the seventies wedge with modern reliability. Whatever the venture's later turbulence, Project1 demonstrated the appetite: for the price of uniqueness, buyers would commission memory itself, rebuilt on warranty-friendly bones. It remains the modern coachbuilding revival's clearest proof of concept — nostalgia, engineered properly, sells itself.
