2021 Haval Jolion HEV Tech

01

Origins

The Jolion is what Haval learned from selling the H6 abroad. Replacing the H2 and sold in China as the Chulian, it was designed with export markets in mind from the outset, hence the invented, pronounceable name and a specification sheet loaded with driver assistance systems and screen area at a price that undercuts established rivals.

02

Design and engineering

It is a conventional front-drive compact crossover with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, or a hybrid using a dedicated hybrid transmission, with a six-speed manual at the base of some markets' ranges. Assembly runs well beyond China: Thailand, Russia, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Indonesia and elsewhere, which is how it reached showrooms in Australia, Latin America and Africa so quickly.
