Origins
The E01 of 2020 was FAW Bestune's dedicated-EV entry: a compact electric crossover built on the group's new-energy architecture for the dual-credit policy era, offering respectable range and conventional virtues without the startup sector's software theatrics. It sold modestly — fleet channels absorbing much — while FAW's electric priorities consolidated around Hongqi's premium push. Production continued to 2025. The E01 represents the SOE electric middle wave: competent compliance products that filled credit ledgers and taught manufacturing lessons, bridging the gap until the giants' serious platform investments arrived. History files such cars as infrastructure — unglamorous, necessary, and quickly superseded by the strategies they funded. Compliance cars rarely get statues; the industry they scaffolded is the monument.
