Origins

Robur of Zittau built the LO series from 1960 as East Germany's light-truck standard: an air-cooled petrol four in a tidy forward-control body, hauling the republic's parcels, produce and fire crews in the niche below the IFA heavies. The LO 1800 A and its successors served everywhere state logistics reached, exported through the socialist sphere, perpetually updated and never replaced — the DDR's familiar pattern. Reunification's used-Western flood ended Robur swiftly. Surviving LOs are cherished curiosities now, their air-cooled clatter recalling a vanished logistics of queue and plan — the little truck that delivered, within the system's limits, for three decades. The plan never allotted it a successor; the wall fell before the paperwork did.
