Origins

Skywell's D11 of 2015 came from the company's original identity: Nanjing Golden Dragon's electric commercial vehicles, backed by Skyworth appliance money, building the buses and vans through which China's electrification actually began — fleets first, private cars later. The D11 belongs to that municipal wave: battery-electric transport for city contracts, unglamorous and cumulative, establishing the manufacturing base and cell relationships from which the consumer-facing Skywell ET5 SUV would later emerge, itself exported under the Skyworth name. The lineage explains the marque: like BYD before it, Skywell entered private garages through the depot gate. The D11 is thus foundation stock — the working vehicle that funded the brand's passenger ambitions. In China's electric story, the depot fleets came first, and vehicles like this one carried the whole experiment.
