Origins
Troller of Ceará built its reputation on the T4 — the fibreglass-bodied, diesel-powered 4x4 that became the Brazilian backlands' modern Jeep — and the Pantanal of 2006 extended the formula into a compact pickup: same rugged body-on-frame construction, turbodiesel power and swamp-and-sertão intent, named for the great wetland. Its timing was unfortunate; Ford's 2007 acquisition of Troller refocused the company on the T4 alone, and the Pantanal was discontinued within a year after limited production, becoming an instant rarity. Collectors prize it as the road not taken — a Brazilian working truck with genuine off-road architecture, retired just as the country's pickup market exploded. The T4 soldiered on until Ford's 2021 Brazilian withdrawal killed the marque entirely.
