2021 Voyah Dreamer

01

Origins

The Dream is Voyah's take on the Chinese luxury MPV, a segment where the Buick GL8 and Toyota Alphard had long collected the corporate money. It is a five-door minivan built at Dongfeng's Wuhan plant, sold either as a rear-motor battery electric car or as a four-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid using a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, with a single-speed drive in electric form.

Design and engineering

The selling points are the ones that segment demands: reclining individual seats in the middle row, quiet running, air suspension and long equipment lists. Its significance for Voyah is largely commercial — the MPV is where Chinese premium brands make margin, and it gave the marque a second body style to build export volume on. Assembly has since been extended beyond China to Lipetsk in Russia and Abu Dhabi, reflecting where Voyah has found buyers most readily.
