Origins

Founded by ex-Lotus and Caterham executives, Zenos launched the E10 in 2015 with genuine material innovation: its tub combined an extruded aluminium spine with panels of recyclable carbon-fibre composite — crash-friendly, repairable, and radically cheaper than autoclaved carbon — under minimalist open bodywork. Ford EcoBoost power in rising states of tune gave the sub-700-kilogram car sports-prototype urgency; the E10 S's 250 horsepower delivered supercar acceleration at hot-hatch money. Reviews admired the engineering candour; sales, as ever in this market, lagged the praise, and administration arrived in 2017 before new owners continued limited support. The E10 deserves remembering as more than another failed lightweight — its cost-conscious composite thinking anticipated approaches the wider industry later adopted, from a Norfolk unit that ran out of runway first.
